As the birthplace of Halloween (or Samhain, as it was known by the ancient Celts), Ireland offers an authentic and unforgettable experience. Whether you’re looking to get a serious scare at a world-class scream park like The Nightmare Realm in Dublin or Farmaphobia in Meath, or prefer a more gentle, enchanting day out on a pumpkin patch at a local farm, there’s something to get everyone in the festive mood.
The cities come alive with major festivals like Derry Halloween and Dublin’s Bram Stoker Festival, while rural heritage sites and adventure parks host spooky trails, haunted train rides, and themed events perfect for a family day trip.
Located in Newbridge House & Farm, Pumpkins After Dark is a new outdoor Halloween event that brings a magical glow to Donabate. The event features a mesmerizing one-kilometer illuminated pathway filled with over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins. Visitors can wander through a wonderland of intricately crafted pumpkin sculptures, from classic Halloween figures to whimsical dragons, movie heroes, and pop culture icons, all brought to life with immersive music and captivating sound effects. In addition to the stunning displays, the event also offers live pumpkin carving demonstrations, a variety of seasonal treats and sweets, and countless “Instagram-worthy” photo opportunities, making it a truly unforgettable and family-friendly experience that celebrates the spirit of the season.
The Museum of Curiosities is a fascinating and unusual destination that promises a peek into the strange and macabre. This two-floor labyrinth at 35 Pembroke Street Lower is a “cabinet of curiosities” filled with a compelling collection of eerie and bizarre artifacts. Visitors can explore an assortment of objects, from haunted dolls and preserved creatures to antique medical devices and peculiar taxidermy. Open all year.

A popular event with a variety of activities for all ages. Visitors can typically enjoy a Ghostly Train Trip, an Enchanted Scarecrow Woodland Walk, a virtual rollercoaster, and a pumpkin patch. There’s also usually a fancy dress competition for the best-dressed family.
Clonfert Farm’s “Haunted Harvest Festival” in County Kildare is an unmissable destination. Known as one of Ireland’s top pumpkin patches, the farm transforms into a spooky wonderland with a wide range of activities for all ages. Visitors can pick their perfect pumpkin, brave the thrills of the on-site funfair with unlimited rides, and dare to enter the spooky Haunted House. With additional attractions like the Pumpkin Patch and various farmyard animals, Clonfert Farm offers a comprehensive Halloween day out that combines classic autumn traditions with a touch of playful fright.
Based in Kildare the Pumpkin patch is operating 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th October 2025. Boasting the biggest homegrown patch in the county! And they all Dogs!!

A premier “scream park” for older teens and adults, Farmaphobia offers multiple terrifying “haunts” spread across 100 acres. This year’s attractions include new and classic haunts with live scare actors, such as “Hellfire High,” “Slaughterhouse,” and “Bobo’s Carnival.”
A family-friendly Halloween event for children aged 2-12. Pooka Spooka at Causey Farm includes a variety of activities like a corn maze, train ride, fortune telling, and a mirror maze. It’s designed to be a fun, spooky experience without the intense scares.
This family-focused event is a winner of “Best Tourism Experience Co. Meath.” It includes a pumpkin patch and carving area, a spooky maze, zombie laser tag, and a range of outdoor and indoor activities for children, such as an inflatable obstacle course and pedal boats.
